After years of working in the Pilates and Physical Therapy fields, I wanted to create a space for healing. Not just a space to address specific ailing body parts, but a space where your healed injuries can be reintegrated into your body with consideration of your emotional and mental wellbeing. Ours is a safe space that will allow you to heal on your own timeline, without the pressures of insurance denials, short treatment sessions, or limited provider availability.
Above all we will support your healing journey with trauma informed kindness and compassion.
Denise Small received her doctorate in physical therapy from SUNY Downstate Medical Center in Brooklyn NY in 2016. Her career as a physical therapist came after a successful career as a professional ballet dancer with the Kansas City Ballet, the Metropolitan Opera, and the New Chamber Ballet in New York City. While dancing, Denise used the Pilates method to improve her strength and stamina, keeping her injury free throughout her career. Denise became a fully certified Pilates instructor in 2005 through Balanced Body University and worked closely with Master Pilates Teacher Ellie Herman at her studio in Brooklyn, NY. After graduating from physical therapy school, Denise studied pelvic health with Amy Stein, author of “Heal Pelvic Pain” at Beyond Basics Physical Therapy in Manhattan, one of the founding practices in the field of pelvic health. Denise has since been practicing in the field for 8 years, and has bolstered her skills with cranial sacral therapy and visceral mobilization techniques, as well as post graduate studies in trauma informed care.
Denise combines her extensive experience with her innate love of movement to create a unique healing experience like no other.
